HTML 5

Will HTML 5 be a solid upgrade to the existing web presentation, could it become a level raiser in web app development kit. After five years of work, a draft of the HTML 5 specification was released in 2008. Parts of it are showing up in browsers, but the complete HTML 5 work may not be done for years or even a decade. The thought being projected is one of HTML 5’s goals is to move the web away from proprietary technologies such as Flash, Silverlight, and JavaFX. Even Google has mentioned that HTML 5 shall be their next language for which they are dropped their own language Google Gear as mentioned in their blog. Google may also have to do some serious enhancements as its YouTube subsidiary uses Flash for its video, but the inclusion of HTML 5 capabilities in browsers might cause YouTube to rethink that decision. But “Will HTML5 replace Flash?” on the Web. On contrary Flash and HTML does not in any way opposing to one another.  No one is saying that the shift to HTML5 will happen overnight, and no one is saying that Flash will become irrelevant overnight. But HTML5 will iterate more rapidly now that web-kit is a major priority for both Apple and Google, the compatibility issues with video codec will be sorted out over time, browsers will continue to add new, innovative features, and developers will continue to build useful tools and really neat websites around those features. Have I biased?
